I 1950 vart Bolinder-Munktell kjøpt opp av Volvo og vart eit dotterselskap under Volvo. Volvo heldt fram med å nytta dei to merkenamna Bolinder Munktell og Volvo utover 50-talet, men mot slutten av 50-talet gjekk dei over til merkenamnet BM Volvo for alle produkta.
