The Institute is named after a distinguished Swedish diplomat, Raoul Wallenberg, in recognition of his humanitarian accomplishments in Hungary during the Second World War. Twenty-five years ago, the World Conference on Women in Beijing immortalised the notion that human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights. The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law has integrated this notion in our work. The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law is named after Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat who saved tens of thousands of Jews and other people at risk in Hungary at the end of World War II. The libary at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, founded in 1984, is Sweden's most extensive human rights libraries and one of Europe's leading human rights libraries. The series Raoul Wallenberg Institute human rights library, v. 31 represents a set of related resources, especially of a specified kind, found in Boston University Libraries. We are a research and academic institution with offices, programmes, and convening power covering 40 countries. The institute is named after Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved tens of thousands of Jews and other people at risk in Hungary at the end of World War II. Since 2013, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute has given visiting research fellows from academic institutions and national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in Southeast Asia the opportunity to come to RWI’s head office in Lund to conduct research and develop human rights trainings relevant to the Southeast Asia region and context.
